I bought this dotted dress back in 2019, when I wore dresses often, even to fairly casual occasions, usually with flats and sweaters. But the global pandemic happened and I have not been wearing dresses as often. I was just preparing to donate this green, dotted, tiered dress which I had only worn once, when I walked into Anthropologie and saw racks of flounced, tiered and printed dresses, so I was inspired to put together a remixed version of flounces, leather, pearls and heels. Here are all the details on this flouncy drip:
In order to get the drip going, I had to add these long, drippin' pearl earrings which can be bought at Anthropologie or Shein. Links for most current items are below.
My leather jacket is Neiman Marcus Store brand, from 14 years ago, which has worn beautifully, I love the 3/4 sleeves and scarf-like detail and I've worn it so many different ways over the years, but I found some elegant and inexpensive designer leather jackets at The Real Real. I've included an elegant Lafayette 148 version below.
My favorite hats are from Asos, they are inexpensive but lovely. When the jacket and hat came off, I added a puffy velvet headband to hide my hat head. Free People has a pretty version available. My belt is hand tooled leather from a honeymoon in Bali, but any wide belt will help to define your waist when wearing a long flouncy dress. A few versions of current, long, dresses for day (or day-into-evening) are linked below. In the midwestern winter, I love the sculpted black leather boots from Ecco. I wear them with tights all winter long.
The tote is fun, I used it to carry my hat, jacket, phone and keys, it's a re-usable tote from Amazon, made out of burlap, with a bit of luxury look ribbon trim. It always gets a double take! Of course you can look for the authentic luxury brands through consignment shops like The Real Real or in luxury retail outlets. Hope you have fun finding your own drip!
